BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac Gets Maintenance Update San Francisco Chronicle
BlackBerry Desktop Executive for Mac v1.0.2 was released yesterday and it's currently available as a free download from RIM's site.
Along with the update, RIM published a modulation log for the release, which includes specifics on the six tweaks and modifications made in v1.0.2. Said changes understand to Desktop Manager for Mac's Calendar, Notes and Contacts syncing and don't appear to affect the software's music or media sync features.
In low-down, the change log document contains a list of 38 known yet unresolved bugs, and not a solitary one of them has to do with Desktop Manager's music sync. This is notable because I've spent quite a bit of time with BlackBerry Desktop Supervisor for Mac, and most of the issues I've come across have related to music syncing. For example, iTunes album artwork for the most part only partially transfers along with my music. And I'm sometimes unable to play back media added to my BlackBerry via Desktop Overseer for Mac, though the same files work fine when added manually.
The absence of media sync mentions also suggests RIM may be inasmuch as breaking media sync for Mac into its own separate piece of software, as it did with the Windows version-- BlackBerry Media Sync 3.0 is to hand on its own or as part of Desktop Manager for Windows.
I asked RIM about the possibility of two-way photo sync features coming to Desktop Straw boss for Mac shortly after the Media Sync 3.0 release, and the company assured me that it is indeed working on adding the functionality, though it would not quota any timeframe for an expected release.
